Mill pups

Puppy mills are still a thing. Can you believe it? Thankfully there are places like Fluffy to really let us work with these innocent loving dogs and find them furever homes.

We start with Harriet.

3-4 months old. We looked in her pen with 3 of her mates. Cowering, some silent, some barking. Harriet did not bark, was not completely shut down, and was just curious enough to step forward along with one other litter mate for one good hand sniff.

Got home and we started right away. Lots of sniffing. One big potty on the floor. Got a long right away with our dog, which is to be expected.

Then came bedtime. In a large pen in the living room. Here's where the short dissatisfied barks, howls, whines of disapproval. But it doesn't last.

Throughout the night silence....then little bark, howl sessions that don't last. After one mini session, come 1am...I went to just sit next to the pen. She made it clear she still was scared. But I say silent and the cat came over for pets. I pet and snuggle the cat. 5 maybe 10 minutes goes by, I go back to the room.

She sleep through to 5am. She goes potty outside, she eats....day 1.
